since last night’s post, our phones have been flooded with calls, texts, DMs, and so much love. we are truly blown away. between showing up at Six Hands Farm Store, sharing our post far and wide on social media, and sending such kind words and offers of assistance. to each and every one of you who reached out, thank you. your support means the world and was an absolute beacon of light on an otherwise very dark day!

we’re still assessing what kind of a loss we are facing, and have to wait and see if any moisture related diseases emerge. regardless, we lost all crops that were ready or near to harvest (anything that flood water touches is not safe to sell), lost supplies that washed away, and have a mess to clean up.

but today we got to work. we had visits from DEC, FSA, and Soil and Water. the guys were able to redirect the stream that diverted that massive amount of water into our farm field. as of tonight, the water is finally draining and our crops are reemerging.

the good news: the loss doesn’t appear to be as total as we thought - it seems some crops will bounce back, our fields drained remarkably well, and we will re-seed and re-plant everything we are able to this late into the season.

what you can do: we deeply appreciate the folks who expressed a desire to donate, but the best way that you can support us as we rebuild and replant is to continue shopping at Six Hands Farm Store, and getting a breakfast sandwich at our other endeavor EGGMAN EGGMAN. Find us at the Hudson Farmers Market NY and Catskill Farmers Market and please spread the word!

our outhouse (can it even be called an outhouse? it’s very fancy) courtesy of Christine’s Dad Barry, is complete! it’s even outfitted with a changing table, space for a bench to nurse, and room for us to change the kiddos

these couple pics we were able to snag show eggplants in the high tunnel, and lots of other vegetables in the field—all freshly cultivated in only an hour with a E-Ox borrowed from our friends at 🙌

we’re CERTIFIED ORGANIC!!

we have always farmed to National Organic Program standards, so why go to the trouble (and added $$) of getting Certified?

we (the farmers) won’t always be the ones selling our vegetables directly to you, so we want our customers to know that we adhere to a high standard, and we have the audit records (thank you, !) to prove it! No synthetic fertilizers, GMOs, or anything icky.

We are confident about the safety and quality of our practices — we feed our kids these vegetables, and want you to feel good about feeding them to your family too 💚

it’s been a whirlwind of looong to-do lists over here!

building projects, seeding and planting galore, so much work getting ready to open (!!!) and of course some fun thrown in the mix - see pic of the kids playing with their new mud kitchen at the farm (thank you to Luca’s Grandpa Bill & Nonna Christine ♄), can’t get much more fun than that đŸ€©

feeling the weird combo of spring farm energy: energized by all the growth around us and also sleepy from all the hustle + bustle to make it happen đŸŒ±

What a week it was! Lots of work with seeding and potting up plants like cherry tomatoes, eggplants and herbs; and on our construction projects—the greenhouses, a well pump and a deer fence!

We were all feeling beat by the end of the week, Connor and Fabio from the bulk of the work on the farm and Christine and I (Hunter) from the behind the scenes stuff like ordering plant tag printers, placing seed orders, keeping spreadsheets updated, and parenting while the guys worked long hours at the farm.

It’s been a lot to juggle, to say the least. But yesterday all 7(!) of us spent the afternoon together at the farm working and playing and it was so nice to spend the time all together. This is what our partnership is all about, and we are feeling so very grateful for each other and this farm we’re building together.
