“Your produce is always so clean.”

We hear that compliment often.

Although you should always rinse your produce at home, we do our best to clean our food before it leaves the farm.

It’s important for us to present food as it should be: clean, beautiful, natural.

Scenes from our Friday harvest.

Ended the day by hanging more garlic to cure. I’m very excited to have garlic for many months ahead. I’ll probably run out of space in the garage and take the remaining stalks to cure off site.

While those are still curing, we’ll have fresh garlic at the markets this weekend. It’s super fresh, so you gotta use it up quickly. But—it’s also super fragrant and delicious, and totally worth it.

Shosh will be Fell's Point Farmers Market tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you all down there. Nick’s going to be holding down the fort on the farm all weekend, and Ashley will be at Mt. Washington Farmers Market on Sunday.

We hosted our annual garlic harvest today.

Our CSA members helped us plant 4,000 garlic cloves last November.

We harvested half of them to start the curing process. We should have enough to last us through the fall and save some for seeding next year’s crop.

Big shout out to CSA members Regina and Hugh for their help with both planting and harvesting this crop. Big thanks to all the other friends and CSA members who helped with the garlic! 🧄

We’ll have red potatoes for markets this weekend. Looking forward to sharing our first potato harvest.

We got in the field early, so we could be out by 11 and beat the worst of the heat. Team worked super hard to knock it out. Very grateful to work beside them.

We’ve been accepted into Maryland’s Best program!!

What’s Maryland’s Best?

Maryland’s Best is a program through the Maryland Department of Agriculture. The program connects consumers with Maryland’s farmers and their products.

When you see the Maryland’s Best logo, you know that you are supporting Maryland businesses.

For farms, 100% of the fruits and vegetables must be grown in Maryland in order to be accepted into the program.

When you get food from our farm, you’re not just supporting a small local business. You’re purchasing fresh, locally grown food.

Attention Maryland farmers!!

We’re forming the Maryland division of the National Farmers Union (NFU). Through education, advocacy, and collective strength, they help build a better future for farmers, including their 220,000 members.

We’re doing this to amplify our voices at the state and national levels. We’ve met with, and received support from, Secretary Atticks and the NFU President, Rob Larew.

Now we just need a couple dozen MD farmers to join NFU for Maryland to become officially recognized as a state. Regardless of what you grow or how you grow, we invite you to join. We want this group to reflect the diversity of growers in the state. We’d like to see all types of operations from all over, from the Eastern Shore to Western Maryland.

In addition to the benefits of having a dedicated group advocating for grassroots policies, you’ll also benefit from member discounts on equipment, software, travel, and more.

Reach out to us or Wild Kid Acres | Western Riding, Trail & Pony Rides, Farm Tours if you want to learn more.

We covered our 400 squash and pumpkin plants with insect netting today.

This will help protect the crops from the cucumber beetles and squash bugs.
