⛵️Beautiful 10-Year-Old, 14.2h Appaloosa Mare

Meet Berry, a lovely 10-year-old, 14.2-hand Appaloosa mare looking for her perfect trail-riding home.

Berry has been a valued member of our lesson program for the past three years, but she's made it clear that she's ready to retire from arena work and endless circles. What she truly loves is hitting the trails, and we'd love to see her with someone who enjoys exploring the woods as much as she does.

Berry is a safe and sensible mare, but she is forward-thinking and responsive, so she is best suited for an intermediate or experienced rider rather than a beginner. She's happy to enjoy a relaxed ride through the woods, but when asked, she has plenty of energy and a nice "go" button.

She prefers going in a hackamore, although there are no issues with her mouth—she has been thoroughly evaluated by both a veterinarian and an equine dentist. We believe Berry was originally started western and would likely transition back to western riding with ease if desired.

Having spent many years as a lesson horse, Berry can occasionally test an inexperienced handler on the ground with a few "mare faces" and a bit of attitude. However, once she bonds with her person, she is incredibly loyal and thrives with a confident, consistent rider and handler.

Berry is well-mannered and easy to care for. She clips, bathes, stands quietly for the vacuum, and is excellent for both the veterinarian and the farrier.

If you're looking for a dependable, fun trail partner with personality, Berry could be the perfect match.

Heaven gained one heck of a pony yesterday.
Our beloved Rocky (Just Like Magic) let us know that it was time. He was ready to see his old friends again. In true Rocky fashion, he didn’t make a fuss—he simply didn’t want to get up and face the day. Anyone who knew Rocky knows how unusual that was. And when he told us he wasn’t hungry, we knew something was very wrong.
Rocky, we could never repay you for the countless riders you taught and the endless laughs you gave us over the years. You had a way of keeping everyone humble, always with kindness and plenty of giggles along the way. You could be trusted with the tiniest riders, yet in your younger days you could confidently canter a course. From horse shows and lessons to trail rides and endless grooming sessions from little hands on every side, you did it all.
It won’t be the same without your sweet little face greeting us each day, your gate-banging demands for snacks, being dragged toward hay you weren’t supposed to eat, or watching you zoom a few laps around the field just to get everyone else moving before stopping to supervise.
You touched so many lives and will be missed by more people than you could ever know. Your memory will live on in every rider you taught, every lesson you gave, and every smile you brought to the barn.
Thank you for everything, little man. We love you, and we will never forget you.

We had a fantastic weekend at GMHA with beautiful views and perfect weather!

Balouna turned in wonderful performances with both of her riders — Kelley Frasca earned Reserve Champion in the Low Modified Hunters, while Lyla P took Champion in the Children’s Equitation. Sophie S and Meister Von Koekshof were Reserve Champions in the Pre-Children’s Hunters, and Nickeredoodle with Maddie G claimed the Championship ribbon in the Advanced Beginner division.

Wisewood Starmaker and Cody V had an outstanding weekend, earning Champion in the Short Stirrup Hunters and Reserve Champion in the Equitation. Atlantic Blue and Lucy F tackled a very challenging Long Stirrup division, putting in impressive trips as they stepped up to a new level together.

We also celebrated lots of “getting to know you” successes with Rom A’Dore and Corey H, as well as Staccato and Renee L.

As always, the incredible Abbey Abbott kept us organized and on track, with wonderful help from the delightful Julia Tranguch. We’re so proud of all our riders and horses!

We believe it’s important to venture beyond the ring. Both horse and rider can enjoy and benefit from a change of scenery. Whether you own a show horse or a pleasure horse, outdoor riding adventures offer valuable experiences for all.
We’re fortunate to have direct access to 300 acres of trails and miles of enjoyable riding right outside our door. If you’re looking for a place where you can train in the ring and also escape the sandbox, we’d love for you to come check us out.
