Manscaping! 😉

Okay, maybe its called 'Bullscaping'. Yupp, we said it! Rowdy had a little too much going on downstairs, so we had to trim him up. If you know, you know. 😂

For bulls, keeping the hair trimmed around the sheath helps prevent it from wrapping around the shaft and causing problems. And apparently, Rowdy was happy with is trimming, because he was putting his cleaned-up sheath to use the very next day. 😂🐂

Good Morning & Happy Sunday!

It's always nice to be able to enjoy a morning cup of coffee as the sun comes up. The cows are always at the top of the hill, and you can see their silhouettes. Great reminder that God is good! 😊

Socializing.... 🥰

We socialize our calves as much as we can, almost every single day Candice goes to the calf pen and puts in the work. Life is very busy, so it's tough to keep up with this protocol, especially when we have a bunch of calves.

JCT-Penny was a surprise pregnancy, so we only have her right now that needs this daily socializing. She is doing great!

THE SIRE! 🎉

AND Penny, you are Dun with wild-type! The wild-type (red) sure is showing up, which made us question Rowdy being the sire, because he's Dun, and Ed is dominant!

Silver or Dun 🤔 Did you know Silver is often confused with Dun?

This photo is a good example of the color range of Dun. JCT-Rowdy and JCT-Sandy are both DUN in color!

Dun has a very wide range of color from a very dark brown to a very light blonde, which is often confused with Silver. We've even seen AHCA registered stock listed as Silver, but once actually tested, it came back as a Dun! We always test, it's never a guess with us. The test is easy and inexpensive, and it's great knowing exactly what color you have!

JCT-Ol' Yeller (012) is one of our most favorite cows! 😍

She may not be our smallest yellow, JCT-Baby owns that record, but she is a great producer all the way around, whether it's AI, live covering, or IVF, she does outstanding for us. She has very good manners, and great conformation. Fully matured at 42.5" on the nose!

What does small framed miniature Highlands look like?

This photo was taken in March this year. JCT-Black Betty (022) and JCT-Baby (021) are a good example of the range of mini Highlands. Black Betty is fully matured at 43" and 630lbs, while Baby is 38" and 518lbs at 5.5yrs old in this photo. I keep thinking Baby may grow a little more, but she hasn't! The only standard there is to follow is 3yr old heights, Black Betty was only 40.5" at 3yrs old, and Baby was only 37.5" at 3.5yrs old. We measure the correct way, hard ground, level fully across the back where the hip hooks are.
