Montgomery County Master Gardeners - Maryland

Master Gardener Susan Wexler reports as follows on a blueberry-gleaning event that took place today in Montgomery County: "Today MG’s were joined by volunteers from the regional office of the Federal GSA. We gleaned close to 200 pounds. MG Erica Smith who is also a “food runner” volunteer for Community Food Rescue, delivered 60 pounds of berries to Washington Grove Elementary. I delivered the rest of the berries to Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless. The fruit was gleaned in Poolesville at FarmAtHome Produce, which is a pick-your-own blueberry operation." Awesome CFR blueberry gleaning today thanks to the generosity of FarmAtHome Produce by Montgomery County Master Gardeners - Maryland. They picked 90 lbs. of delicious blueberries that was donated to WUMCO Help Inc.

Our harvest of blueberries is winding down! Join us at the farm for the last weeknight and weekend pickings of our 2018 blueberry season. We plan to be open on Thursday (7/12) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and on Saturday (7/14) & Sunday (7/15) from 7:30am to 11:30am (fields close at noon). As expected, picking has become more scattered/difficult this morning so we will be closing at 10am today. However, we expect many blueberries to ripen this week and will be open for easy picking next Saturday and Sunday from 7:30AM to 11:30AM!

As an update, we had a great opening to our 2016 blueberry season today! Because it is early in the season and we had a heavy volume of picking today, ripe berries will likely be more scattered/difficult to find tomorrow (especially later in the morning). We still plan to be open from 7:30am - 11:30am.
