We have been stewarding the land at Grindstone Farm since 1981 and began transitioning our land to organic in 1985 as it takes 3 years without non-organic pesticides and herbicides or any fertilizers that could contaminate the soil. Grindstone Farm has been certified organic since 1988, a very early adopter (the first in Oswego County and one of the first ten in New York State). We have had several dozen interns work with us over the decades, many of whom started their own organic farm. We thank our faithful, supportive customers who have kept us going, especially through the tough times and give praise to Grindstone staff who daily perform hard work in all kinds of weather. We love what we do -- feeding our communities healthy, local certified organic fruits and vegetables!

Farmer Dick is continually told by his wife he needs to develop a hobby as he continues aging out from what he can do on the farm. He thinks that SHE will become his hobby!

We have raised livestock on the farm but never cows. This breed of cow has beautiful features. We think we'll work on producing one.
