Two events this JUNE at Tree Talk Natives 🐝:
🐝 11 a.m. June 6 the BRISTOL COUNTY BEEKEEPERS will have live hives, honey tasting and all kinds of information on beekeeping.
Honeybees are not native to North America, and their relationship with native pollinators is a subject of ongoing discussion in the native plant community.
The Beekeepers will share their insights into these fascinating and complex pollinators -- and to answer your questions. We think it's a conversation worth having!
🐝 11 a.m. June 13 Dr. ROBERT GEGEAR of UMass Dartmouth will present on NATIVE BEES, the plants they depend on, and what we can do to support at-risk species in our own gardens.
He has studied the ecology and conservation of native pollination systems in eastern North America for more than 25 years.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the region's leading pollinator scientists.
*Both events are FREE and OPEN TO ALL

Penstemon digitalis is one of the most beautiful of all the native spring bloomers. And it stays in bloom for a month or more.
A great pollinator plant, it attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, native bees and other flying things.
Foxglove Beardtongue likes full sun and dry to medium soil.
Other Penstemons at Tree Talk Natives include Hairy Beardtongue, which is shorter at 1-3’ tall and has lavender blooms in May and June.
We also have Calico Beardtongue, which has pinkish blooms and prefers part sun.

Parthenocissus quinquefolia is a great native vine for sunny spot or even full shade.
Its best feature is its bright red fall leaves.
Virginia Creeper climbs with its sticky pods. It’s great along a fence, maybe trellis, bare slopes and rocky areas.
Its berries are a critical food source for mammals and more than 30 species of songbirds, and its tiny spring blooms are great for native bees.
Best to keep Virginia Creeper away from roofs and sidings as its sticky pads can tug at those.
For more on Virginia Creeper, visit our nursery!

It’s a huge spreader, but by underground rhizomes and self seeding, great for filling in an area or even as a lawn replacement.
Its blooms are small but clumped, giving it the appearance of a larger flower.
