Being in this space and finally getting to settle in has really had me reminiscing on our beginnings. Many of you know us only through the last four years since we moved to the Chequamegon Bay, and still quite a few have only experienced GOOD FLOWER FARM since we opened here in Washburn this summer.

What you may not know is that I started this business back in 2014, with its origins stretching back even further - starting with hearing Jane Goodall speak at my university back in 2006, followed by living and working on organic farms, getting my Masters in Natural Resources with a focus on environmental ed, teaching sustainability education and then stumbling into making my own products via my love of herbs.

It may seem like this building popped up quickly, but it’s been well over a decade of slow & steady intentional building with only a few 0% interest crowdfunded kiva.org loans (all paid back!) and now a loan via Entrepreneur Fund supporting us.

Scroll through for a walk down memory lane as October is the anniversary of our 12th year in business! 🥳

My first show back in 2015 in Minocqua, WI while I taught high school at Conserve School.

The name was Original Organics Herbals back then; I named it that because I first had a jewelry business I called Original Organics and had a nice logo for it that my friend made, so I thought I’d just keep the name 🙃 I kept this name until 2017 when we bought our farm in TN - hence Good Flower Farm 🌼

One of my regular farmers markets (shout out Richland Park Farmers’ Market 💛) in Nashville circa 2018. I did anywhere from 3-4 farmers markets a week for a few seasons until Covid hit. This was pre our rebrand in 2020 that’s the look / branding we have now. At this time (from 2014-2020), I “designed” and printed all the labels myself.

I loved the farmers markets and it’s such a sweet time to think back on; I get sentimental thinking about these days! It was really special being in my hometown and now seeing that was such a catalyst for where we are now. She has an amazing collection of paintable watercolor books & notecard sets, very cute & highly necessary stickers, and an excellent watercolor paint set - all from her own artist imagination 💭 We’ve got some fresh fall-themed watercolor goods in; grab em while ya can! We have a limited amount and prob won’t order more because fall is fleeting! 🏃

Hey friends. We got word that anyone parking in the lot adjacent to our building (we do NOT own or rent that lot) may be towed. Our parking is along the street with a handicap space behind our building.

Since many have asked, we did originally plan to build our own parking lot, but that would have necessitated sharing the existing curb cut. The neighboring business declined to share the curb cut, so we were unable to build our own lot. As such, we gladly pivoted and now street parking is our default parking. We have never encouraged anyone to park in the adjacent lot since it is not ours. We do our best to inform folks of how our parking works, but we can’t direct all traffic or control another party’s private property.

We did take extra steps to design and install landscaping on that side of our building with the hopes that it would create a physical block deterring people from thinking they could park there and then enter our building from that side. This was not part of our original plan, but we decided to add landscaping on the entire east side of our building because we were conscientious of the matter.

We’d be super bummed if anyone got towed, so please spread the word and be sure to park on the abundant street parking when visiting our business. We deeply value being good neighbors and doing what we can to contribute positively to this community. Thanks for your support of our business! 💛

Parking PSA: Our parking is street parking (there's tons of it!) and we have a marked handicap space behind our building that has an ADA accessible walkway up to our front entrance.

Many have asked about the parking lot next door and the picnic table in the middle of its entrance. This is not our parking lot. If you see the entrance blocked, it is unrelated to GFF and does not mean we are closed.

WE'RE OPEN DAILY! If our open flag is out & open light in the window is on, we are open. You are welcome here! We love you and would not block you from visiting us 💛
