Introduction To Hunt Cellars

After several years of extensive search for the perfect vineyard location, David and Debbie Hunt picked Paso Robles to establish their dream vineyard. The Hunt's looked from Washington State, Oregon, Northern California, Sonoma, Napa, The Foothills, Santa Barbara, Temecula, and as far East as Virginia. Then after about two years of searching they picked the 550 acre

site in the foothills of Paso Robles because of it's magical soil terriors. Debbie was pregnant with their daughter Destiny who was born in 1996, the year of the acquisition, so they named the vineyard, Destiny Vineyards in her honor. This Mountain top Vineyard ranges in elevation from approximately 1550 ft and extends to around 2200 feet. Vineyard has multiple terriors and the vines are planted West to East because of the incredible Coastal influence on the growing season. Hunt said the weather is perfect, featuring 50 degree diurnal swings in weather with cool nights from the ocean breezes. Destiny Vineyards has somewhat foggy mornings then brilliant heat thermos to perfect the ripening followed by the big ocean chill down late in the afternoon. This helps create the tremendous varietal intensity, concentration of the fruit and World class flavors Hunt Cellars has become famous for. Across the World, if you do not have a great Vineyard, you cannot produce great distinctive wines. Destiny Vineyards has proven itself to be one of California's premium vineyards, the wines are consistently incredible vintage after vintage. Hunt Cellars wine making philosophy is to make the wine in the vineyard. We do not make wine by sugar brix but by vine and phenolic maturity ranging from seeds, skin, stems, leaves and much more. We let the grapes hang on the vines until the vines are ready to shut down and present their very best fruit. Our winemaker pushes the thresh whole of the art against science. Hunt Cellars wines are primarily sold through our Wine Club, prestigious restaurants such as Ruth's Chris, Mortons, Larsens Del Frescos, Smith Wolinsky's, The Edge Steak House, as well as many other Fine Dining Restaurants and selected Wine Shops.
