The fall is a very special time on our farm. We work so hard during the growing season. Our herd grows, pigs grow, our chickens grow, our gardens grow. We also grow tired from all we do.
But we grow in strength, knowledge and gratitude for all that God allows us to do.

Our herd is on its last grazing rotation for the year and will soon be in the winter pasture when we provide them with hay and shelter for the cold months. This is a special time of reflection and peace.

I love morning chores, going out to the herd during ā€œmorning nurse timeā€. Itā€™s very sweet to see our wonderful mamas taking care of their babies. I also love that we are still a smaller farm and leave our yearlings in with their mothers. This is our girl Ruth with her yearling calf Toby and her calf from this year, Iris. They love their babies and continue to care for them even after having a new calf. We continue to see our veteran mothers staying with the cow daughters. They have a beautiful bond that I truly appreciate.

21 Days ago we put eggs from our flock and from my sisterā€™s flock in VA in the incubator. Itā€™s hatch day!!

Weā€™re open 4-7pm! Our friends from Seneca Sunrise Coffee will not be present today but Star & Plow Farm, NYS Veteran Services, Straight-Way Family Farm, and Habee Farms are all back after brief hiatuses.

Sunflowers, dahlias, fresh veggies and baked goods, meat, eggs, and more! Stop by the Montour Falls Memorial Library table for a flower/pollinator craft and the Sustainable Montour Falls table for information composting, trash removal, and recycling. Sustainable Montour Falls
