Hey y’all… tomorrow is a Fern Hill market day at Warrenton Farmers Market. The weather is looking a little dreary, but we’ll be so happy to see you!

Because of the weather we will likely have a reduced selection with us (1 table), so if you have your heart set on something please please please pre-order online today (the earlier the better for wax items, since they may require longer to prepare).

Pure & Natural... enjoy our all-natural, raw, local honey. Dine by the light of pure beeswax candles. Family owned & operated apiary and beekeeper since 2004.

We’re looking forward to seeing all our market friends this Saturday at the Warrenton Farmers Market. Forecast is for slight chance of showers, but that won’t dampen our spirits - should be a lovely fall day with a high of 70*.

Today, we’re prepping for Saturday’s market… if you have any specific requests - especially for wax products - feel free to jot them down in the comments (or pre-order on our website before Friday). Lastly, a quick note to mention that our chickens’ egg production is beginning to slow down with the decreased day-length; eggs will become more limited (from us) for the remainder of the market season. (Pics: a few fellow pollinators on our farm.)

09/23/2023

FYI - to all of our market-goers… stay home today where it’s dry and warm.

Today marks the beginning of National Pollinator Week (June 19-25, 2023)… we’ll be at the market this Saturday with educational materials about honeybees - just one of our very important pollinators… and will have HONEY available again too!

Comment below with photos of the pollinators (not just honeybees 😉) you see throughout the week. 🌸 🐝 🦋 🦇

FYI… we are currently unable to capture swarms, because all of our equipment is currently tied up in the pending honey harvest. If you hear of (or have) a swarm in need of collecting please check this page of our site (swarm info) for a list/links to others that may be able to assist. Thank you!

Swarms are a honeybee colonies' natural way of reproducing. When the colony gets too crowded in the parent (original) hive, the workers prepare for a new queen to be raised; the original queen and about half of the workers leave the colony in a cloud. They'll all settle down for a short time in a cl...

The nectar flow has been very good this spring… here’s a short (3 min) clip showing some of our work. While we’re currently sold out of raw local honey, we do attend Warrenton Farmers Market on alternating Saturdays (5/27) offering all natural beeswax products. We’ll post online and on social when honey is back in stock. We anticipate a mid-late June harvest.

Our last market day of the season is here. 🥹🙁 We’re nearly sold out of our Fern Hill raw wildflower honey, but have plenty of wax products (blocks, candles, ‘bear turd’ fire starters, and beeswax food wraps) and honey sticks (16 flavors). If eggs are on your shopping list, we recommend coming early. Hope to see you today - it’s going to be a beautiful fall, sunny day.

Looking forward to being back at market this weekend. We’ll have duck and chicken eggs available, plus our usual favorites —- local raw honey, beeswax products, and honey sticks, for a sweet treat. 😊 Stop by and say hi at the Warrenton Farmers Market!

While at a nearby grocery store today I happened to grab a jar of the honey they’re selling. This photo is of the nutritional facts label from that product. What did I notice?
A few key things to mention:
1. “Manufactured” in NJ
2. “Product of USA, Canada, Argentina & India”

You’re probably wondering ‘what does that mean, and why did it stand out to you’, right? Yup… I thought so.

Manufactured doesn’t mean the colonies are actually IN that location. It’s very likely that it’s being “bottled “ there. Having a product that has an origin list of 4 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, is a huge 🚩 to me. The consumer really has no idea what’s in this bottle or where it’s from.

Did you know that honey is considered the 3rd most adulterated product available to consumers?! When you visit us at the Warrenton Farmers Market, you can ask us any questions about our bees, our colonies, how we manage, how we harvest, what nectar sources the bees visit, and anything else bee-related that you’re curious about.

We are a small, family-run business that takes great pride in offering our community a product that we know is RAW, PURE, LOCAL, and DELICIOUS. Even if you choose not to buy from us - if we’re sold out or you have another source - we will urge and encourage you to BUY LOCAL & KNOW YOUR BEEKEEPER.
