Kitá Wines Founded in 2010, Kitá Wines is a small, premium winery located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley

In the Santa Ynez Chumash native language of Samala, the word "Kitá" means "Our Valley Oak." The Chumash believe the valley oak is a true gift from our creator, a tree that provides not only strength but also nourishment to the people. Like the valley oak, our wine highlights the gifts from Mother Earth and embodies the soil, climate, flavors and spirit of the Santa Ynez Valley. All of the wines m

ade by Kitá have been harvested based on a balance of chemistry and taste to preserve the highest quality. We feel that winemaking is the heart that carries the voice of the vineyard through to the bottle.

As Kitá's time comes to a close, we thought it fitting to make our final post a collection of photos from our last days of harvest at Camp 4 Vineyard throughout the years.

As you can see, more than a few of the years are missing. It's easy to overlook the importance of capturing a memory in the moment when you are busy thinking about other things. But it's not until you realize the moment has passed and you'll not be in this place, with these people again that you wish you had taken more photos.

Being able to work the vineyards of my ancestral lands has been an experience I have loved with my whole heart. There is something so rewarding about nurturing something beautiful from earth to bottle, and being able to share that labor of love with others.

It has also been exciting for me to see more of our Indigenous brothers and sisters join the wine, beer and spirits industries since embarking on this journey in 2010. As the original stewards of this land, I believe we are well suited to crafting remarkable products that pay homage to the gifts of Mother Earth in new and unique ways.

And I look forward to engaging with this new generation of liquid storytellers through my volunteer mentor and advisory work in the years to come.

Kitá Wines provided us a unique opportunity to share the history and heritage of the Santa Ynez Chumash with people around the world.

Normally this time of year we would be prepping wines for bottling, and planning out new wine releases for the Spring Wine Club shipment. Instead we are packing up memories from what has proven to be a life-changing journey, with a heart full of hope for all that lies ahead. ❤
